Had the birria tacos. Loaded with meat, super crispy, and come with red and green salsa, as well as fresh onions and cilantro. I liked it enough that I went back again the same week. Tried the chili verde burrito, which now ranks in my top three. The chips are homemade and fantastic!
Amazing service, great vibes, INCREDIBLE FOOD. I would eat here daily if i wouldn't gain weight
Friends, I could WALK here and am so sad that it took me so long to try it out. If you haven't been, go ASAP. I'll say, it's going to be a rare treat occasion because this spot is not cheap. But it was SO yummy. We came as a family of three for a random lunch one Friday afternoon. It is small with limited seating, but we were seated right away. Parking is easy to miss, so be sure you're watching the signs. Thinking about my mangonada lemonade is making my mouth water. The cheesy shrimp tacos were incredible. Our service was really good. I just don't have anything bad to say other than it's a little pricy. It's worth the price. Just not something we can swing on a casual day like I'd like to.
A little warm inside but service was friendly and the cheese dip delicious: velveeta with fresh strips of poblano and tomato and queso fresco. The fish taco was simple but fresh. The cheesy el pastor taco was delicious with just the right hint of cheese and chunks of sautéed pineapple. Hubs got the burrito version and said it was very good as well. Kiddo had shrimp quesadillas and said the sauce that comes with it is a must-have.
I'm a little scared to write this review lest the secret of Salt Lake's diabolical taco-lords get out to too many people. These folks set the Bar(rio) at a new height for SLC. Try the cheesy al pastor tacos -- as someone who famously hates sweet things infringing on savory, I was hesitant to try them but they are SO. GODDAMN. GOOD. Come hungry because these bois are thicc, juicy, and come three to a plate! Also amazing are the birria tacos (of course), the chile verde, and ANY of their homemade lemonades -- I like the ginger the best as it's blended with enough fresh, pulpy ginger to make your tastebuds pucker in ecstasy.
Cute little restaurant. It's cozy inside, but plenty of seats. The service was great, and the food was delicious! We ordered the Cheesy Pastor tacos and the Birria Tacos and both were amazing. Different flavors, but we couldn't decide which we liked better and that's a huge compliment in itself. The meat was flavorful, the taco shells were fresh, and salsa was mild but added the perfect touch. We will definitely be back and recommending this place to friends & family!
From the outside, Del Barrio may not look like much-and if your GPS is like mine, it will take you to the neighboring car lot and leave you there-but once you find the right place, prepare for some tasty tacos. As others have said, this is a small joint-I've had more people at one time in my house for Thanksgiving dinner than I think could fit here-so come at non prime time for quicker seating. It's cool to be so close to the action, but for some it might be a little overwhelming. I enjoyed an order of Yucatan Pork tacos and they were fabulous. I especially appreciate that they are not smothered in different toppings-everything is on the side, so for plainists like myself, we can enjoy the pure taco without any distractions. Because the place is so small and table space is precious, I did feel a little rushed to leave after finishing my meal. My dining partner and I were enjoying conversation, but felt bad taking a table, so we left before we might have been ready to. So don't plan on this being a place that you linger longer. Eat and get out! :-)
Another great experience today, just here to remind myself about menu items and share how I felt with anyone contemplating what to order- I was there on a date and dude wanted me to share the pork chile verde chorizo dip... and I was shocked that I liked it! Not spicy. Tasted like bean dip. I even liked the chorizo! Pretty cool. We also shared the birria tacos and the cheesy al pastor tacos. I liked both but liked the birria more. I still think the nachos are my fave thing of all though. Also, it was PACKED at 12 on Thursday. We had to wait 20 min for a table and I had to park across the street. Totally worth it though.
I haven't been this impressed by a place in awhile! We stopped in here on our way to the airport. It obviously had wonderful reviews, but I still wasn't entirely sure what to expect. It's a small place that probably doesn't seat more than about 50 but it was packed on a Monday for lunch! I ordered a single Carne Asada taco, Chicken Tinga taco and Birria taco. They were mouth watering. I honestly could've eaten another 3 without hesitating. The chips and salsa were delicious, as were the rice and beans we split. My boyfriend got the Carne Asada burrito and he loved his meal as well. The service was stellar and I would 100% come back here again.
